Counseling Approach
Nekiya operates from a Person-Centered lens which is based on the idea that people have an innate ability to move towards positive growth and healing. She seeks to be a passenger on your journey, while providing a warm, genuine environment for you to discover your most authentic self. She places significant value on the therapeutic relationship and views it is the primary method of change. You have taken the first step in working toward that change, and she is excited to connect with you. Together we will work towards identifying your needs and creating a plan of action.
Education
Nekiya graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Counseling. While in graduate school, Nekiya advocated for mental health and social justice by co-founding the Coalition of Black Counselors (CBC).
